CONSTANTINOS TALIOTIS

Constantinos Taliotis (1983, Nicosia, Cyprus) is a trans-disciplinary artist living and working in Nicosia. His practice focuses on narratological, aesthetic and architectural modalities deriving from popular iconography. More specifically, he is interested in the evolution of narratives in architecture, the architectural structure of narrative, the interconnected imagery of space and fiction across media and the genealogy of popular culture imagery. Ranging from photographic tableaux vivants to immersive narrative installations, and from videos to books and object-based sculptures, Taliotis examines and appropriates particular genre attributes and fabricates new fictions. More recently Taliotis has been researching the VHS era phenomenon (1981-1993) in Cyprus, its genre specificities and its wider cultural impact.

In 2013 Taliotis co-represented the Republic of Cyprus at the 55th Venice Biennale. Recent solo shows of Taliotis include Porcino, ChertLüdde, Germany (2019), The Pavillion, The Point Centre for Contemporary Art, Cyprus (2019) ,L'oeil de Poisson, Grande Gallery, Canada (2018).His selected group shows include: In the Sea of Setting Sun, SPEL State Gallery, Cyprus (2022), UNDER MINING, Cyprus (2022), Reality Check Chapter II: Inner Sanctum, Artefact Athens, Greece (2022), Hypersurfacing, NiMAC, Cyprus (2019), Pentadaktylos Contemporaries, Leventis Gallery, Cyprus (2019), Young Greek Photogaphers 2010-2018, Thessaloniki Photography Museum (2019), European Eyes on Japan - Japan Today, Pafos, Cyprus (2017), So Close Yet So Far Away, Petach Tikva Museum, Israel (2017); Never Shown on Purpose, Circle1, Berlin (2016); AyeBaDome: Super, Thkio Ppalies (2016).
